Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

7 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Seems that many of the specialist Motoring bookstores have gone now like Motors Books off Charing Cross road in Central London and so the ability to browse has gone and then when you go into the bigger chain stores they only seem to have the coffee table style books for Porsche. Does anyone have any book recommendations for interesting reading, racing, restoration, modifying, history, the characters involved, etc?

It all depends on what era interests you. I've read Dennis Jenkinson ..A Passion for Porsches...a great read written by Moss's co pilot. Informative reading in an elegant style covering 60's. & 70's with many period pictures. I think it may be out of print now but it's usually avail cheap on fleabay. Recommended.

Endless books on the subject. The most important is "Porsche, Excellence was expected" by Karl Ludvigsen , three volumes, and the best overall history. (2) The Porsche Book by Jurgen Barth ( 3 vols) is exhaustive on model-by-model descriptions and data

Ferry's own Cars are my Life Vic Elfords autobiography Peter Morgan's book on Metzger Tony Dron wrote a good one about their handling

Buying, Driving and enjoying the Porsche 356 by James E Schrager is an enjoyable read/re-read and full of info that makes you want a 356. Neil's Book, the 356A by Neil Goldberg. A photo heavy book documenting an early unmolested car. Secrets of the Inner Circle by Harry Pellow. The 356 page definitive guide to rebuilding the 356 engine... amongst other things. Rare and desirable. How to Make an Old Porsche Fly by Craig Richter. A period instruction book for how to hot up your 356 and get ready for racing.
