I read that the 2009 Cayman has great traction control which cuts in in small doses. I would think that it's merely software, but to anyone out there who knows, can we update our pre-facelift Caymans with the new traction control software?

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

any views? In fact I think the traction control update is mandatory in order to fit the 6-sp manual factory LSD into older cars.
No idea, but some of the ECU tuners have already been tuning new DFI cars and might know if that is the case. I must say that on my 2006 with the Quaife TBD whenever I track the car I put the car in Sport mode and the traction control never kicks in unless I've done something stupid. In short, I don't feel like I need an update.
Besides the LSD, Excellence states that the PASM and TC program used in the facelifted Cayman is excellent, and while the Cayman's TC is FAR superior to cars like the Z4M and the S2000 in its non-obtrusiveness, it pales in comparison to the F430's and even cheaper examples like the new Exige's optional TC. I would really like to improve the TC software in the Cayman, it still gives a little stutter and delay when the car sorta destablizes slightly. What Excellence states in that it feeds power gently and unperceptibly, is exactly what I'm looking for. Anybody with information on this please post
I bet Scott from Softronic can upgrade it for us fist gen owners if we ask nicely
I thought Scott had tweaked the PSM thresholds on the latest Softronic flash.
tresholds is one thing. psm algorithms are more than that. Their interaction with the ECU has so much richness that can be altered, and the weightage to be based on respective sensor information, the way they deal with slippage, etc. all can't be dealt with by a treshold change.
