Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

6 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

...of the 996 engine (non-turbo, mild weather). My needle fluctuates between 85 (when driving fast) and 90 (in traffic). Is this normal and what does everyone else experience? Thanks Jason

POST 2Original post

There has been a recent thread on this exact topic (I believe in the 996TT forum). Basically, everyone's temperature gauge reads a tick over 180degF no matter what. Pretty impressive temperature management.

POST 3Original post

Mine goes from 85 to 90 but never above the line after the 85 mark no matter the driving conditions... i live in nigeria and it's pretty hot here.. wael 996 99 Arctic silver

POST 4Original post

Usually reads at "8" or between "8" and "0" of the 180 temp and if traffic reads at "0". At the track usually gets to the checker mark but has never gone above that and I drive it hard in the track. Regards. Mike

POST 5Original post

Your water temp shoud warm up with the car and then find one point and stick there. If it is going up and down all of the time depending on load, speed, etc. then you might have a problem with the water temp thermostat. [General advice applicable to all cars.] The only exeption to this might be if it is really hot and/or you are driving really hard and the radiators cannot keep up. But I think this unlikely unless you are on the track. Personally in the 996 Turbo my water temp stays rock steady under all conditions. S.

POST 6Original post

In normal driving the temp never goes above the 0 in 180. I have seen it get up to the 190 mark on a 95F day at Sebring.
