How common is the OE switchable sports exhaust in 996s? I'm looking to buy a car in Switzerland and can't find a single one that's got one. Is it possible it wasn't offered in every country?

Coverage and how to read this overview
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.
4 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

Hmm, it's possible. A friend lived there and told me his 3.2 had different ratios to other markets due to noise. It was only available from the 3.6 model onwards 996 anyway, but can be retro-fitted to a 3.4 (such as I have). I only ever switch it off to exercise the valves and make sure they don't seize, so if it was my money I'd happily go the "Gundo hack" route.
I do the same to keep the valves working. That and to warm the boxes through properly!
