Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

8 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

anyone know if its possible to update maps etc in the built in sat nav ive got a 01 996 and i beleive the maps are 01 too. thanks

POST 2Original post

Yes should not be a problem, do you have a PCM 1 or a PCM 2 unit installed, if it has a CD loading slot in the top of the unit it will be PCM 2 if you have a seperate drive unit below the head unit it will be a PCM 1.

POST 3Original post

Might be mistaken but think 2002 is as new as you can go on PCM1 and trust me its rubbish.

POST 4Original post

The most upto date I had in my Boxster with PCM 1 was the Porsche Tequipment Western Europe 2003 / 2004, not great but did the job and better than the original which iirc was 2001.

POST 5 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

mine has seperate drive below so PCM 1 im guessing, does anyone have a spare disc i can use to update mine ?

POST 6 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

anyone any pointers where i could buy a copy of the updated map disc for my system ? its the version with the cd player below the scrn of the sat nav.. :thumb:

POST 7Original post

If it had been a PCM 2 I would be able to assist, but I sold my boxster with PCM 1 awhile ago, eBay is a good bet for the discs, the PCM 1 discs are pretty cheap.

POST 8Original post

If your car was built after 31/01/2001 then you are lucky as you have PCM 1 Second Generation (16 Bit). Take a look on eBay, as you can get up to date maps there. Like this: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/PORSCHE-Navte...S_Accessories_Software_ET&hash=item2c559468c6
