I have just removed my seatbelts on my C4S 2003 model and whilst tidying up the tools I have somehow managed to crush the small grey electrical plug which fits into the front inertia mechanism on the drivers belt . The plug is obviously part of the cars loom but is now kaput , in bits and of no use !!! Does anyone know ? Can these be purchased and grafted on to the existing wires ? Or am I in the brown stuff , and it was all going so well , or so I thought Any help would be gratefully received

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

I have identified a Porsche part number 996.612.991.10 as being the cable and plug I require , can anyone with car electric knowledge perhaps advise if I can cut the old plug off the cars loom and solder in the new plug with a few inches of wire as a spur or must I trace the whole cable back to a juction Union in the cars loom and re fif the replacement cable and plug accordingly . Thanks
Yes you can Rich, 5 minute job to splice it and heatshrink the joint :thumb: If you need any heatshrink I have loads and I`m just round the corner
Chris my dear boy how are you ? I'm guilty of being absent in my local Porsche community , pls forgive me ..... I'll drop you a line when the red belts arrive and perhaps you might swing by for a shandy and a chat along with a bit of your advice and assistance on this matter .... So today I will be locating a plug from a breaker or taking a pill at the dealers .... Either way I'm pleased the matter is retrievable , many thanks
Is it not just the plastic connector that is broken with the internal metal contacts still OK? Or are the contacts not removable? If they are, unclip them (if not already loose) and re-install in a new connector. No need to cut any wires if you can do it that way.
All sorted I hope - new part from dealer £17.84 plus vat - as opposed to NOS on the bay at £30 plus postage !!!
I`m all good mate, I hope you are too  We all know life gets in the way sometimes :thumb: Give me a shout when you`re ready to put your belts back in and I`ll pop over with my soldering iron
