Well, after 3 years 5 months and 25k miles of 996 ownership, I finally agreed to a deal today to let her go. It's been a great time with the Targa and I shall miss having such a car around; there's nothing quite like having the hatchback facility of a 911, the sun shining in through the glass roof and also having the ability to slide it back whilst you're on the go. Aside from the practicalities, trying to master a rear engine/rear drive car was indeed challenging – if you've never spun a 911, you haven't really driven one....<waitsforthegunshots> I'll never forget when I spun her the first time on a roundabout - I wasn't familiar with 'slow in fast out'. After that little incident (where I was somewhat shook up), I greatly respected the car as I tried to get the best out of her. Ultimately the car's capabilities still exceed those of my own. There is absolutely no doubt in my mind that the drive-outs with 911uk have helped me learn how to drive the car better (thanks to those routes planned by Stuart, Daniel, Sundeep, NXI20 (Nick), ChrisW, Wattie and all the others too. I'm hoping to return in a 911 some time soon. All I know for now is that I like the idea of 4 wheel drive  ~ Maxie

Coverage and how to read this overview
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Maxie What have you done !!!!!!!!!!
it's been a journey ! you'll certainly miss her so what's next ?
 Sorry to hear that Maxie, and I hope you don't stray too far for too long. 996 Turbos are 4WD
Sounds like a case for 997 Targa 4S: PS - can I have my cubby back
 Sorry to hear that Maxie.I know you said you wanted to sell some time ago but I never expect it to happen. Your Targa or hatchback as you have described it to be many times was a great car. I think is a matter of time before you are back to a 911 maybe a 997 this time. So what will you be driving now ?? Regards Theo
It's always gutting to sell a car you love, but the excitement of getting the replacement car usually outweighs this; what's next for you then? Oh, I'm hoping by 4wd you don't mean a Cayenne... :what:
