Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Hey all the YouTube reviews on aircooled cars being magic to own, listen to and drive are all I am finding out first hand to be true but why didn’t they say anything about the high fuel consumption of these things? I need a fuel tanker following me behind especially on shorter runs. 🤣 Longer trips I find not so bad. just ranting. Feel free just to join in on the conversation. I remember when I had a Boxster and a friend of mine was following in his 964. We both started the trip to GOR on a full tank, his tank was nearly empty at Lorne and I had 70% of fuel left in my 986!!! Oh well if that’s the price we have to pay to own aircooled then so be it.

I don't find them too bad. Like any ICE, if you flog it, it will drink. The cars are reasonably slippery and if cruising sensibly at most speed limits, and, if tuned correctly, will sip reasonably economically. My '84 with ~80L tank will do around 800-900k on a full tank when touring. That's 10l/100k +or-

That’s pretty decent fuel consumption. Good feedback. I need to look into it for my sc as I am definitely not getting even close to 12 litres per 100km

POST 4Original post

After the recent petrol price spike it dawned on me that I have an 80 liter strategic petroleum reserve sitting in my garage 😄

POST 5Original post

Im getting around 800k’s plus in my car touring - its a 77 with a 83sc motor and 5 speed. most of that driving is under 3,000rpm tho. my daily driver is a ‘85 Bronco with a 351 clevo and auto and 120 liter tank … i get around 400k’s to a tank …….

POST 6Original post

On spirited hill drives in my 84 3.2 involving getting out of the burbs first, I usually get around 10l/100km too.

POST 7Original post

jesus... I'm lucky to get 16l/100km... and this is keeping accurate records with mileage, and litres consumed over an extended period of time.

Meh... It's just a fun tax when these things drink more than a dehydrated Elephant. Forget the fuel consumption and just drive it mate 👍

POST 9Original post

Just following up on this thread after a decent 2,000k drive to Thredbo & back. Overall consumption was ~ 8.5l/100k. Lots of freeway at speed limit +/-, mostly +! A bit more spirited from Canberra onward and a good flogging up the Alpine Way. The trip was great and the car was amazing. Never missed a beat and started on the turn of the key every time. Still pretty impressive how it climbed that first big hill out of Jindy, like a goanna up a gumtree! Got photographed quite a bit in the village!

Just want to folllow up on the issue I was experiencing with high fuel consumption with my SC. Thinking back I think it was easily consuming 21l per 100km. I tried Jocaro motors first and described the issue to them. They didn’t want the job as they deemed it too complex to diagnose so I reached out to Nine Auto. They were pretty confident they could diagnose and fix the problem. Stuart did his magic…billed me for 2 hours of work and after 3 months I can confidently say that my fuel consumption has normalised to around 12l to 14l per 100km in urban driving. A big shout out to nine auto guys. They have always resolved any issues I had with my previously owned Boxster and now the SC at vert reasonable prices. I just don’t think they do themselves justice by calling themselves nine auto as it connotes 911 porsche premium prices imo oh I forgot to mention that they found the fault to be something to do with the engine running a little bit too rich at start up and low rpm so they made adjustments to fix it.
