Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

5 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1Original post

I bought a Cayman S and it only brought a key. I know that the key at the dealer is very expensive so I bought a key from an internet porsche vendor, 160 for the key fob. Anyway got the key cut and took the car to a european car shop that told me he would be able to program the key. Long story short they weren't able because the dealer wasnt able to give them the codes. Is this some type of trick in order to make you visit the dealership? I didnt went to them first because they tend to be expensive and second because they are far. What can I do to retrieve these "codes" thanks!

POST 2Original post

i think any guy with Piwis 1 (even chinese copy) can code the keys, what device did he use to code they new keys? if he has the KTS 520, he can scan your box for the code, and recode both keys that you have, you will need to have key head on both keys. i know this because I had to pay $4500 to get 2 keys since i lost both of them.

POST 3Original post

I was in a similar situation. Only the dealer was able to program my spare key, and they charge ~$138 for essentially 10 minutes of work. Extortion? Borderline.

POST 4Original post

well I don't know what machine he has but he said he wasn't able to do it without the code. Now i have to die at the dealership unless i can get a shop in jacksonville that has piwis.

POST 5Original post

Well lets see what happens, hopefully they don't over charge me
