Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

8 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

hi all my epic DIY skills have shown their true light again ;-) I bought one of these as per a previous thread from ASH. its a 45 degree long elbow jobbie http://www.autosiliconehoses.com/si...ee-elbow-reducer-90mm-to-80mm-15-colours.html as you can see from my pics I have a kink in the bend which is reducing the size of the pipe and maybe air flow. what do people think? have you had this befiore? have I not cut enough off the pipe? thanks, Nick

POST 2Original post

It looks to me like the bend is not a tight enough angle and it's pulled into shape rather than it been a natural fit. I've got one on mine that's made for the car and is a perfect fit no kinks.

POST 3Original post

I can't actually see the kink (maybe it's because I'm hungover). I cut and fitted an ASH hose to mine and it fits fine with no kink so maybe try giving it a minor trim. What I have noticed from your 3rd pic is the mark in the middle of the hose, this is from the fan housing. I needed to slightly round part of the housing to prevent this marking the hose when the bonnet is shut.

POST 4 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

All sorted and gave it a trim for better fit

POST 5Original post

what does removing the small pipe between the large pipe and the backbox achieve? I noticed that on mine too...

POST 6Original post

it by passes the resonator in the air box. You get a mighty induction roar.

POST 8 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

You can take out the resonator in a 996 and it just unscrews More airflow through the box and more air into the tb Defo more noise and nicer note and it seems to kick in after 4k
