Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1Original post

Just found my battery to be dead. of course nothing works, like the latches... You can try to access the emergency cable, except you can't.. So the simple solution is to make one of these and keep it in the glovebox. If the battery dies, you can't open the front or rear hoods... The access cable requires you to remove the front tire and then the shield to pull the emergency cable... The wheel lock is of course in the front... The cig lighter is always hot, so plug this in add 12 volts and open the front..... Then charge...

Thanks for sharing. Is there some reason you can't hook up power to pin in the fuse box area so the switches to pop the trunks are activated or is that what you are doing with this?

POST 4Original post

Wouldn't the battery have to be COMPLETELY drained for the trunk not to work, if the battery is putting out 6-10 volts, at 50 CCA wouldn't that be enough to operate the frunk/trunk? Regards, ~Gary

POST 5Original post

What you said is true - as far as you go. But batteries die for several reasons. An internal short will completely kill the battery . Old batteries can self discharge or not be able to hold a charge due to low electrolite. Or the chemical composition could be depleted. So your statement only applies if the battery is healthy but slightly discharged.

Get yourself one of these . It works and it's small enough to stow almost anywhere. I keep mine in one of the back compartments in my 981.
