Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1Original post

My manual says my parking light (the smaller light in the fog light enclosure) is a w5wb Blue vision. When I look it up on line, that bulb seems to be a wedge type bulb. However, the bulb inside was a bayonet style one. Help please. Anyone know what this bulb should be?

POST 2Original post

The revered (by me) manual doesn't seem to be very accurate on bulbs. See the FAQs for more examples The Cayman Club - FAQ: Indiosyncrasies

It's an H6W. Have fun trying to find one for a decent price! Dealer wanted $30 ea. If you want the color temperature to come close to your headlights , look for the *blue vision* or *cool blue*- otherwise the light will be yellowish. Suggest buying 2 bulbs, so they match.

POST 4Original post

That's criminal! How can they charge so much for a little lightbulb? Oh well, mine just went and I couldn't find it at any of the automotive places so I guess I'm off to the dealer too. Wonder how much they'll gouge me for. I'll report back!

POST 5Original post

$30 ea I bought a pair of OSRAMs for 5 EGP, that's like $0.9. Could mail some to you and it may be cheaper :hilarious:

POST 6Original post

$30 Per bulb is a ripoff. Working for a car dealer I used a part # conversion chart, and determined that H6W is part # 68161 at Carquest. They retail for $12.99 each, but if you tell them that you work for a dealer they'll sell them to you for $5.71 each.

I just replaced mine with yellow LED 's to match my hyper yellow fogs. They're BAX9s 150 degree offset bayonet type and come in other colors too. www.autolumination.com Ba9s E10 Ba7s Instrument Panel Bulbs

O'Rielly Auto Parts had a couple "in the back". $10 for one. Looks like they are also available on amazon .com Wagner Lighting 68161 Miniature Lamp - Pack of 10

Thanks for the info. I just replaced mine on 2006 Cayman S for a whopping $7.01 @ O'Reilly's in Cali....

POST 10Original post

I had to go to a sepcialty store to find them near me and they took 3 weeks to get 2 in for me at $7.50 each.
