I tried a sport shifter in a 911S yesterday, and was surprised by the mechanical clicking sound with every shift. Is this normal? I don't believe I have ever seen any negative comments about the sound, only whether the pressure is too stiff / firm for some. Any comments on this (please)? Thanx!

Coverage and how to read this overview
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

I've had both on my car- the OEM versions. I don't notice any pronounced sound unless you are sitting in the car with engine off. In any case this is one of the sweet mechanical sounds we need in our lives, not a defect. And our shifters are cable-fed . Oh how I wish that solid linkage S2000 shifter I had could be fittied to this car...and what a sound it made
Using it when driving the car, I don't hear a thing from the shifter. It's one of the two or three best options I got on the car - a must for the track, imo. brad
Yep bush...I know exactly the sound u r talking about...occ when starting the car and putting it into gear one hears it....More obvious if you are outside and someone else puts the car in gear....Its entirely normal....But it did worry me a bit when I first heard it...
