Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

6 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

Check out EasyCare. Very good coverage, reasonable pricing.

POST 3Original post

i got mine from a BMW dealer when i bought the car, i it's $4500 for 5 years or 85,000 miles with $300 deductible

POST 4Original post

I bought an EasyCare when I bought my used Boxster it was $3600 for three years. The first time I had to use them they sent a guy out who claimed the repair was a pre-existing condition and should have been fixed by the dealer. The dealer refused to fix it because I bought the warranty. I cashed the policy in and put the $3600 in an account for repairs to the car. In my case EasyCare was a joke as was the dealer I bought the car and the warranty from.

99% of the time that is the dealers fault. The dealer is supposed to check out the car before certifying that a car is eligable for warranty coverage. Too often, a dealer will sell a warranty on a car knowing there is an issue and hope the warranty will cover it. It is sad, because in the end the customer suffers for the dealers shortcomings. The warranty company is usually not the one to blame in this situation. When and if you buy coverage, ask to see the checklist they did to certify the vehicle for warranty coverage. If the dealer had done the checklist in your case, Easy Care would have covered the problem.

The dealer claims to do a 50 point safety inspection of the car but they allowed rotors that needed to be replaced to get by. It was not the rotors that I made a claim on because they are not covered but that is an example of what dealer inspections can let by even though they give you a detailed inspection report. I would add that it was not a Porsche dealer. If it were me and I could to the purchase over again I would insist the purchase of both the car and the warranty be predicated on a PPI from a third party of my choice. But you live and learn and one of the good things about these forums is you can learn a lot. Here's another take on extended warranties. http://sites.google.com/site/mikefocke2/extendedwarranties
