Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I pretty sure this should be a yes but just checking. I've got a knock from the front suspension, subtle and more of a sound than a feel through the wheel. It's most noticeable when I slowly come to a stop at lights etc. When I swapped the springs I gave most things I could get to a wiggle with the crow bar but couldn't feel any play except both arb bushes. With both of the ones that attach to the body I can move the bar in the bush which I'm sure means they're worn? The only thing is it doesn't feel like that sort of knock if you know what I mean but I know things might be transferred so any other likely causes suggestions appreciated. Also, what brand do people recommend, oem or power flex and what size will I need? Thanks

There shouldn't be Any play in those bushes but when there is you will certainly know about it so im a little confused .. When worn they have a very loud very heavy knock .. similar to diagonal arms or a link rod but deeper tone and every bump you hit will be noisy . Bonk ... bonk bonk bonk .. bonk .. lol what do you expect .. im trying to explain a noise here :floor: That doesnt seem to me what you have described .. Your description makes me think of brakes moveing in the caliper , pad backing plates unstuck. As always a sound clip or a picture of the play in the bushes .. a lever bar showing a gap perhaps .. hard one that i know .. sound clip will do if possible

If, it's something you only notice at low speed, and after driving the car for 20 minutes or more, ie it doesn't seem to do it when starting out on a drive...? Then I would say it's one of the inner track rods. The reason is that the steering rack heats up, transfers that heat to the rod, it expands and the ball joint (if knackard) becomes very stiff and jerky, causing the knocking type noise. You can almost feel it through your feet, but less through the steering wheel funnily enough. Sure you'll get other ideas on here as well. Good luck

POST 4 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Thanks both, There's definitely play on either side but no bonk, bonk, bonk, not even a bonk 😂. It's a quiet but noticeable knock which I dont think the camera sound will pick up? It is certainly more noticeable at low speed though maybe as its quite subtle it isn't as clear at speed. And it happens from the get go, doesn't need to be warmed up. At least I've got a starting point and thankfully an easy one so I'll get some new ARB bushes. Does anyone know the size I need for a 3.6? Ta

Depends which suspension you have on it. The 4s/turbo bushes are bigger.
