Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

The rear license plate on my new, less than 1200 miles, C4S fell half off yesterday. Not the four screws that I put in to hold the license and bracket to the mounting system of the car, but the mounting system itself. In fixing the problem, I found that the Porsche licence plate mounting system was attached to the plastic bumper by means of a small expandable rectangular piece of plastic that fit into the bumper and "grabs" the bumper as the screw from the mounting bracket is screwed into the plastic part. Evidently, the dealership (?) did not install this part correctly. I did a quick roadside fix and it seems to be holding fine now. Problem is that when the license plate came "half-off" it rotated down and gouged the bumper. My brand new car now has its official "first scratches". Two Questions: 1. Have others experienced this problem? 2. Do I realistically have any recourse with the dealership to fix the gouges and if so any suggestions? I will call them on Monday.

Sounds like a warranty repair to me (including the scratch). Craig (L.A.)

POST 4Original post

Have had the front one fall off several times. The dealership found the means to connect to a structure somewhere. Maybe there is a similar fix for the rear. Agree with you on your outrage that this should happen to a new car.
