Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

4 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

0 evidence records excluded for query context · 0 excluded by outcome qualification · 0 adjusted by outcome qualification.

0 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

hi, i have owned my 996 c4 on a s plate for 6 years and always had it serviced properly. the car has done 70k but needs about 1500 quid spent on brakes faulty air con and a repair on the front bumper(some twat drove into it in a car park) warranty direct have quoted me 1000 quid to insure against the dreaded engine failure,(its always been great but i have become paranoid) should i warranty it ,or get rid of my baby and buy a newer one?its ocean blue with savanah leather picture to follow. thanks

POST 2Original post

70k is not that much and generally if it was going to go it probably would have gone by now. I would take my chances and sort out a Hartech / Autofarm rebuild If I am unucky......... which I was. A newer one ( unless its a 997.2) could equally go if you were unlucky so better the devil you know? However you have to wiegh up wether £1000 (read the small print) is a price worth paying to rid yourself of endless sleepless nights with PP.

POST 3 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

thanks for the advice!cant really justify a 997 yet as its a toy!probably keep it and try not to worry thanks again

POST 4Original post

I sometimes find it helps in these matters to put a different slant on things. EG. If you knew someone who drove a 911 the way you do for say 5000 miles a year would you offer to pay for a new engine if they agreed to pay you 20p per mile they covered or for a 'fixed rate' of £2.73 a day. If the answer is 'no' then the £1000 can suddenly seem a bit more palatable. :judge:
