Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

8 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

0 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Hello all, just wondering if someone can confirm that option code 220 is the optional LSD? Thanks Lee

POST 2Original post

Appears to be 2 options on the 996, 40% and automatic...

POST 3Original post

M220 is the mechanical LSD and is what you are looking for if you want a GT3alike drive. (40% lock-up). The M224 is really actually part of the PSM system. That translation leaves a lot to be desired, as what it should say is "Automatic Brake Differential" or ABD. As part of the traction control systems on the PSM the ABD will brake the "breakaway" wheel to transfer drive to the other side of the axle and prevent spin. NOTE: this will only show on the options sticker if it was actually an option (ie 993, Boxster, early 996 C2 etc). Once a standard fit for that model in its region, it will only appear on the full build sheet via a chassis number search.

Does anyone have a link to the options list for a 996?

POST 6Original post

£754 option in 2003. Not sure of prices in other years.
