Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

2 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

0 evidence records excluded for query context · 0 excluded by outcome qualification · 0 adjusted by outcome qualification.

0 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Newbie needing advice Just test driving a Carrera 4 oil pressure at 5 - is this OK javascript:emoticon(':?:')

POST 2Original post

All normal. The oil pressure gauge is as follows: Cold start, any revs: 5 bar Fully warmed, idle: 2 bar or less (dependent on exact model, wear, oil grade - 1.5 bar or extreme 0.8 bar when very hot and racing). Fully warmed, 3.5k+ rpm: 5 bar. Note: as the 996 has no oil temp gauge, and the water temp gauge is a leading indicator, waiting until the oil pressure drops to 2 bar or below at idle is the safest way to guarantee the engine is at operating temp. Now open the taps!
