Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

4 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

hello all have not used the car in a while. last time was when it was icy in the morning, i tried to wind down the windows heard the noise but the window didnt move. ok fine its frozen. didn't think anything of it today when trying to open the car window the window stays shut and all i hear is super crunching sounds. any idea what this is? quick fix tricks? 987.1 boxster thanks

POST 2Original post

Sounds like the window regulator is broken to me. The mechanism is going up and down but the wire has snapped so it can’t take the window with it. Would be surprised if it’s anything else Expect you will need a new one fitted. I have done it myself on a boxster, not too bad.

POST 3Original post

100% it’s the regulator. Had the exact same symptoms with my 987.2, sounds like you’re crunching broken glass when pushing the window up/down switch. Had mine fixed under warranty at the time - think it was around £200-250 value repair - that’s OPC pricing so sure it would be cheaper with an indy.

POST 4Original post

Easy job for an Indy. It’s defo the regulator.
