Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

10 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

0 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Ive found that my petrol flap doesnt lock, noticed the pin doesnt move out far enough when it is locked, any one else had this and what did u do to fix?

POST 2Original post

On mine, there is kind of a locating ring that fell out and was still within that compartment, It simply clicked in over the pin. Failing that, try cleaning and WD40?

POST 3Original post

I had the opposite happen yesterday. Pulled up at the petrol pump and the flap was still 'locked'. Big queue behind me so couldn't look in the manual. Ended up locking, unlocking a few times and the flap was fine  Could it have been the cold weather :?:

POST 4Original post

It's usually the guide bush (item 3) for the locking rod which becomes dislodged.

POST 5Original post

Snap Roadrunnner. Had to drive up from the South of Ireland yesterday, temps were around -5 in the midlands. Pulled up to petrol station, big Q and low and behold the bloody lid wouldn't open. Thought I'd be cute, go in a fill up a couple of bottles of boiling water, pour it over the area and hope, and nada, zip! :dont know: Decided to drive on a bit in hope, again when the light went on and I knew I wasn't going to make home so I made a couple of calls. Thank fook for the manual release inside the door, otherwise I was goosed. Baz.

POST 6Original post

These flap motors are known to fail and they are really difficult to change. Held in by torx screws and no room at all to get a tool in. Nasty job, I reckon if I had to do another I will take the wing off to do it, bet I would get it done loads quicker! For the record if ever they jam shut there is a pull cord, just above the upper door hinge.

POST 8Original post

Where's the pull cord . :?: Couldn't see it on my 2004 c4s cab Anybody know
