Hi All, New to here. Can you tell me, or point me to the right place. What is the difference between a 'standard' model and the 'S'. Also what are peoples opinions on this car? http://www.pistonheads.com/sales/1963429.htm Cheers

Coverage and how to read this overview
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.
6 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

A 996 "S" doesn't specify a "Sport" version, in the same way it does on a 997 (which gets a bigger engine and much higher equipment levels). There was no C2S (to compare to a C2). The C4S gets the Turbo +60mm widebody (but no side air intakes), front and rear Turbo bumpers (and radiators), Turbo brakes, wider "Turbo 2" alloy wheels, 10mm lowered sports suspension and a reflector between the rear light clusters. It has slightly higher interior standard spec, with fully electric seats and Sound Pack (more speakers). The greater aerodynamic drag/rolling resistance and weight means it is actually technically slighltly worse in fuel consumption and slightly slower to both 0-60 and top speed vs standard 996.2 C2 and C4 models. It will stop quicker though!
Hi, welcome to 911uk GT4 has already answered the first part of your question. Regarding the specific car that you linked ........ it looks like just about the one of the nicest 996.1 (pre-facelift and 3.4 rather than 3.6) examples that you will find but that is reflected in the price which is a bit 'toppy'. The fact that it is has a PSE probably just about justifies it though.
Thanks for the replies. That particular car appears to be sold now. I guess the good ones don't take long to sell!
I noticed that too, and hence didn't bother replying. The part about "18 inch one off original Porsche GT3 split rim custom alloys at cost of £2,760.00" makes it sound like they were something unique from Porsche. The 18 inch SportDesign were £1,705 if ordered with the car build, £2,760 dealer fit and available to anyone with a cheque book. The gunmetal two-tone may be "custom", but again anyone can have any colour combination they like for about £100 a wheel and is pretty much the same price a a single colour (the cost is in the "split-rim"). These are mine in Dark Chrome/Light Chrome:
Thanks for that GT4. Looks like I'm going to have to do some serious swotting on the subject
