Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

4 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I met a representative from a company who claims that they can successfully supercharge the 996. Is this possible from a mechanical standpoint? I have never heard of this before. <img src="confused.gif" border="0">

POST 2Original post

Well anything is possible. But, i dont think it is recommended. Why dont you just get it turbo charged, i think porsche engines handle it alot better then supercharging. I would call the guys ar protosport in nj([phone removed] and hopefully one of these guys can fill you in as to why. good luck

POST 3Original post

I hear often that our little 3.4 engine crankcase and rods can't handle large hp gains but I think it's a matter of supply and demand and $'s for R&D to do such an endeavor. It's disturbing to see how smaller japanese 4-bangers can be supercharged/turbolized/nos'd to the hilt as you see on those import tuner magazines but granted how long those engines last dont got a clue. Does that mean Porsche engines are that weak? Don't think so its just come to not enough demand so little supply and not enough dollars. Oh well life is still good and enjoying my car!! Regards. Mike

POST 4Original post

True, it sure would be nice to see a low boost unit making an extra 50 to 75 lbs of torque for the 3.4L. It would probably also cause a great deal of that torque to come on closer to 2k than the 4K+ now.
