Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

What color is the silver Porsche in the first few pages of the Dec. issue of GT Purely Porsche magazine (same pic is posted on ebay for A C4S for sale), is it Polar or Artic or are they the same?

POST 2Original post

It is likely Arctic silver because that is the standard silver offered by Porsche right now. Arctic has a beige/brown tint while Polar has a blue tint.

can you tell which silver this is http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/aw-cgi/ebayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=601475810&r=0&t=0 Thanks

The 7th, 8th and 9th pics in this album show a Polar Silver car parked with with an Arctic Silver one. http://www.imagestation.com/album/?id=4292097645&code=2442655&mode=invite The car in the middle of the road is Polar Silver. If you double click on each of the pictures as you flip through the album, you will see the high resolution larger versions too. I too would describe the difference as characterised by a brownish tint in Arctic versus a bluish one in Polar Silver - these tints are most evident when both colours are viewed side by side. Another way I would describe the Polar is that it looks a bit more refined as in polished smooth and the Arctic looks a bit more grainy. I like both. Also, if you click on my "911 turbo" signature, you will see Polar Silver on a 993.

You guys are awsome, I did not even know there was more than one silver and I am about to buy an artic silver when I thought I was buying a polar silver. I appreciate the help. Ran that is a nice pair of Turbo's!

I'm not smart enuf to combine URL's but if you go to [email removed]/speedster you will see many pics of my old Polar Silver Speedster. If you go to www.986host.com/gallery/doncapecod you'll see many pics of my arctic silver 02 Cab. FWIW, in 02 Polar was about a $3000 option while arctic was something like 800.web pageweb page

There's more than just two silvers! We've done bumper plugs in Arctic, Polar, Meteor (an older color), Meridian - all Porsche Silvers.

POST 10Original post

Good descriptions of the colors....The Polar is stunning at night with lights on it. The Arctic silver, like my 996, is the silver we have all seen. Arctic is $825 option and Polar is $3295 option. Meridian Metallic is a cross between silver and gray, nice and only $825. John Murray 99 C2 coupe Ruf wheels

POST 11Original post

What about seal grey?I saw a 996TT last weekend at Ogner Porsche. It was in the back garage with neon lights reflecting off the color. One word,WOW.I have noticed that seal really changes from different light conditions. At some angles it looked like a dark silver and at others it had a bluish/grey tone.Maybe Porsche should have named it seal silver.

POST 12Original post

Seal Gray ($825 option)is my second favorite next to Cobalt Blue ($3250 option) of the current Porsche colors. I have a customer that just ordred a C2 coupe in Zanzibar with full graphite gray leather, Zanzibar center console, seat stiching in deviating color(ext. color) Adv. Tech package, Special chassis rigidly tuned(M030), headrest crests, PSM, 18inch new Carrera wheels, that car is gonna be awesome. Anyone ever seen a Zanzibar car? We sold a BoxsterS in Zanzibar/gray, beautiful! John Murray 1999 911coupe silver/black
