Hi all I'd really like to get an OEM PSE system fitted to my C4S, but the cost is quite prohibitive. I was wondering if if anyone else out there is considering the upgrade - perhaps a bunch of us to club together and get a group discount? Let me know your thoughts. Tristan

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

This was done on here - or porkers - cant remember which - by a bunch of guys but the best C4S retrofit price was around 3.5K. Best search on here for Oettle or Hayward & Scott. I wont tell you how good PSE is as it will just make you want to spend 3.5K :worship:
It's been done before but that doesn't stop you from gathering some folk who missed out before. Can't remember the guy who organised it last time but he got a group buy at c£1400 for the 996. However that was 2 years ago. Well done on announcing and good luck for arranging this. ~ Maxie
Just get Oettle style mod via H&S, Sport&Classic or mail order Oettle. The only difference in reality is the loss of a valve, which most users hack to stay on/open continuously anyway. Therefore removing the differentiator. True PSE is probably only necessary if you need the OPC warranty.
Or annoying the neighbours! ~ Maxie
Or track days where the valve allows you to get below the dB restriction. :cop:
Good point on the track day use. Didn't consider you would want to turn it off at full chat. As for the neighbours, just pootle home at less than 2k rpm and partial throttle and it is quiet as a church mouse (or at least no louder than standard). At low rpm and partial throttle the back pressure is not enough to utilise the bypass. Don't believe the stealth mode, listen here:
Hi all Thanks for the replies! I'd rather go the OEM route as I believe it's a safer bet for resale values, plus I like the idea of the bypass. I'm actually based in Monaco, but my car is still back in Cambridgeshire waiting for me to find a decent parking space! I'd really like to hear of anyone else is after a PSE - I reckon a gang of us could get a decent price. Thx Tristan
The PSE group buy a couple of years ago was organised by FraserB (haven't seen him around for ages) with OPC Colchester and the prices were £1450 for a 996 and £1350 for 997 including fitting, VAT and a courtesy car/collection & delivery. If I recall correctly, the contact at OPC Colchester was Mike Stebbings so it would be worth giving him a call. However, I suspect that the prices will now be substantially higher. Having recently switched from the 997 C2S to a 997 Turbo, the one thing I really miss is that great PSE sound  Clive
+1. I have the Oettle boxes and in 3 years no neighbour has ever complained. The only time you hear it louder than stock is at start up when there is a flare of revs. After that it is fine if you drive off at low speeds. It does sing above 3k rpm. In my humble opinion, all 911s should sound like that.
Managed to find the porkers thread: http://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&f=48&t=856469&mid=166887&i=80&nmt=Reasonable%20price%20for%20a%20Porsche%20Sports%20Exhaust%20(Main%20dealer)&mid=166887 This is a long thread but tells you just about everything you want to know about PSE. PM some of the giys on there. Sadly C4S PSE looks about 3.5k as supply is down to silly levels. To be honest as you are operating in Europe I would try Belgium Netherlands and France OPC for their prices and stock - historically Belgium has been cheap as chips for servicing so that may be an option. Cheers 8)
Porsche dramatically increased the prices for 996 PSE retrofit parts about 18 months ago (and I mean like nearly double what it was when the group buy was done at Colchester) so I'm with GT4... H&S gives same sound from same mod for a fraction of the price.
PSE Hi there, I am new on 911 UK after finally purchasing my first 911. Its a 2004 Anniversary and i have being toying with the idea of adding a new exhaust note. I to looked into the PSE option but nearly passed out when my local OPC offered to kindly fit it for £4500. After that I gave up on the idea for a while but have recently contacted a specialist for a price. I will keep you posted on the findings.
