Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

3 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

0 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 1Original post

what are your thoughts on a $1000 deposit requested of me by dealer to get 'in line' to place an order for a fall delivery of cayman S! I will buy a Caymen S but do not want to take delivery (or close deal) until later in the year (fall or winter, possible Jan '07). Should I take my chances and simply wait. I could order a 2007 in late '06. I think demand exceeds supply now but I suspect it will catch up (i.e. cool off). Do I simply take my chances with higher volume dealers in the CT/RI area. Thanks in advance for your advice

The deposit is refundable if you don't buy so why not choose and order a car to your specifications and keep looking. That way you have all bases covered.

POST 3Original post

I would NOT want to pay the deposit until you actually order your vehicle; end of 06 and early 07 is a bit too far away. When you are ready there are plenty of dealerd willing to get your cayman for you. We all understand that the deposit is refundable, but why in the dealer's pocket instead of yours. Just my two cents. HTH
