OK, maybe I'm being dense, but I can't get my new filter in after removing the old one. I've read the tutorials but they all say "reverse the process". Is there a particular manuever/technique to get this thing back in that I'm missing? :wall:

Coverage and how to read this overview
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

It's a tight fit so start at an angle. Kind of hard to describe in words but go at an angle longways and squeeze the opening of the filter short-ways if you need to in order to get the filter to fit. Have the edge of the filter just barely on the lip when you go at the angle though.
Front edge you mean?
Well the corner of the filter that comes in contact with the airbox that's causing difficulty for you....the airbox has a piece that the filter has to basically wrap around. Have the corner of the filter just barely on the protruding piece of the airbox so that you have enough room to be able to make it around the other edge of the protruding piece
Do you put the edge closest to the front or rear of the car in first? I can't seem to get it past this position.
The "back" of the filter (without the intake fitting) goes in first, like you have it. You have to lift the back of the filter assembly as you push it back into the air box. Practice getting it in there, and then see the following tips. Before you slide the filter assembly into place, once you've figured out how to position it: 1. Coat the inside of the intake fitting with a light oil film. Remember, the fitting on the filter is actually the female part of the intake joint. 2. Heat the plastic fitting on the filter with a heat gun. Make it very warm. Once the fitting is very warm, slide the filter assembly into place, and then push it onto the male airbox fitting, and screw the filter assembly down.
I wound up sitting in the trunk (Pistol Pete style) and manhandled it in. I also heated the plastic with a heat gun. Apparently I was being too nice to it.
