Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

4 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1Original post

I want to get something that will play my iPod through my PCM2.1 (non-bose). Bluetooth phone is not important to me. From the most of the threads I've read on P9, the Dension 500 is the best unit to get. And I don't doubt they work wonderfully. But are there any other manufacturers who make a similar product but don't cost as much? Again, all I'm interested in is playing my iPod music through the PCM and having the songs, artists, playlists, etc. show up on the PCM screen. What else have folks read about or tried?

POST 2Original post

We have sold the Dension line since day one (and mobridge and navtv too), but the most popular, feature-rich, and bang-for-the-buck goes to the Dension. If all you want is iPod, the Gateway 500 will do the trick. On the other hand, with PCM 2.1 you can go with the full blown bluetooth system, the 500SBT. Details on each are listed on our site here: Porsche Email me with any questions. As for cost, I don't think you will find a full-featured optical integration kit that will give you all of this for less than the sale price on our Gateway 500 unit, but the other two are about it for the PCM 2.1 units. the forum recommended this unit and I like it: http://www.amazon.com/Soundfly-Ultimate-Bluetooth-Transmitter-Motorola/dp/B001DDE4VY although this model has slightly better sound quailty: Amazon.com: GOgroove SMARTmini BT ADVANCED Wireless In-Car Bluetooth FM Transmitter with Charging , Music Control and Hands-Free Calling for ANDROID , Blackberry & Windows Smartphones: MP3 Players & Accessories I couldn't believe how far these new fm transmitters have come, they used to be a waste of money. Try it out you can always return it.

Sure, you can 'try' anything and see how it is for you. FM transmitters are a crappy way to move digital music to a fiber optic loop. That's why these devices are good at what they do, and provide very little, if any, signal loss. Direct to the loop is always best. If your budget is sub $100, then you're SOL on a full blown direct solution, so sure, try anything else first if you can return it.
