I went to my local dealer at the weekend and took along with me a key head which i bought from ebay for next to nothing. Looking to save money..asked the dealer to cut me a new key blade to match my car and reprogram the head to work with my car. I thought this was totally possible..and to my surprise the guy in the dealership said..."sorry keys can't be reprogrammed, they are written to once only and you will need to purchase a new key"..the only grace was that he said the new style key looks much better. Is this true? should i take his word for it? or ask elsewhere? can anyone help? thanks in advance

Coverage and how to read this overview
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.
