Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

16 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

0 evidence records excluded for query context · 0 excluded by outcome qualification · 0 adjusted by outcome qualification.

0 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

Strut top tower is most likely cast so fairly brittle. It would make a great base for a Race car....

POST 11Original post

Redarress said: Why would cast aluminium be brittle ? Cast metals are generally more brittle, well, less ductile, than forged metals. It is a characteristic arising from the grain size and orientation of the grains of cast metal vs. forged metal. When my 2008 Cayman S was hit some cast iron hardware was fractured. While cast alumumin and iron are tough there is a limit to the forces they can withstand. There is nothing sinister in that damage. In this case it is just the result of a car encountering something it shouldn't have...

Word is circulating that the owner is now in a silver GT4..... Thinking is Porsche helped him out.... Not sure but that's a quick recovery either way!!!
