Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I am about to purchase fabspeed exhaust for my 996. what i've heard and read so far has been good. do any of you particularly love or hate it? thanks

POST 2Original post

Other then the installation itself i'm very satisfied with the result. Great sound!!!I have a post regarding the exhaust installation which apparently took him too darn long to retrofit but after done it great. Common problems is centering the exhaust tips and possibly trimming the pipes muffler wouldnt fit into area would bang on outside(happened to me plus one other guy on the post but nothing major- major would be cannot fit at all. At idle u may hear a slight low rumble and at trottle very throaty. It does have a smell but that goes away and u may hear irregularities over the rpm range but that smooths out as well. Hope that helps ya. regards. mike

POST 3Original post

Getting an exhaust system eh Johnny? I've heard lots of good stuff about fabspeed products. There was some strange stuff about the owner posting under an alias on this board to try and drum-up good favor from the posters on the board. That alone is reason for me to avoid the organization, but most posters here seem to like the products. Though I'm not in need of new mufflers, I have been wanting to hear the Fabspeed product. Let me know when you get 'em so I can have a listen. Best, JW

POST 4Original post

Fabspeeds are good in my book... I vote...YEA. My Fabspeeds installed in less than two hours, with no trimming of anything(Never heard of anybody having to trim the exhaust pipes before, or taking 5 hours to install). The tips are a bit tough to line up properly but not impossible with a little effort. There was a sound clip posted on here back in November 2001. Do a search and it may turn up.

POST 5 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

They sound cool, but were too loud for my personal tastes, so I took em off. The sound and volume of that sound on exhuasts is VERY subjective. Try and hear them before you buy them (or make sure you save your old ones just in case). Just ask people here if anyone is in your area (as well as funcarsonline.com). You might also ask your dealer and local PCA for referrals to someone who wouldn't mind demoing the noise for you.

This is a source reference. Confirm exact model applicability in the original material.
