Hi All, I poked around the forums and couldn't find an answer to this question: I have a 2004 Boxster S that I will be doing an engine swap on (apparent crankshaft failure). I know from Wayne's guide on Pelican Parts that it will take any later Boxster/Cayman engine. However, is that ONLY through MY 2008 donors? ie, can I put a 987.2 3.4L engine (MA121) with DFI in or is it limited to most recent M97 engine ie M97.2x. And when I say put in, I mean in about as straight forward a fashion as a swap to the M96 engines. Thanks!

Coverage and how to read this overview
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

I see that you added a Comment just below the tech article - someone should get back to you shortly. I also found the below thread - seems that the MA could be a bit problematic. http://986forum.com/forums/performance-technical-chat/39611-986-987-engine-swap.html

Any DFI engine requires a extremely high pressure fuel pump which is very expensive. Safely installing it & other require plumbing will require alot of modification.
