Can I, or perhaps more significantly, would I want to retro-fit PCM & Satnav unit to my 2003 996 ?

Coverage and how to read this overview
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.
3 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

Honestly I'd not bother, Its a very dated unit and for the price of a second hand one off eBay you'll get a much better Alpine / Sony double din unit. I never use my PCM and use a TomTom instead, at some point I'll put a nice Alpine unit in but I've concerns about how it would integrate with the Bose fibre optics and how easy it would be to revert back to OEM come sale time, If it were a straight unit out - unit in swap I'd already have done it!
A Sat Nav Reader Unit costs over £1900 or £1600ish if you have a broken one to exchange. iirc when my PCM was repaired I asked what a new one would cost if mine couldn't be fixed and was told £2k. Fortunately a £300 refurb worked. So , would you want to? No I don't think so. :nooo:
