Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

10 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I'm looking at getting this steering wheel off a 997.1 GT2, to put in my 997.1 C2. https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/335078165735 My current steering wheel is the old triangle one so I'd need to also get the round airbag part for the centre. Seller doesn't know the part number for the Steering Wheel or the airbag. How can I find out one of those to order the right airbag? Thanks

POST 2Original post

G'day @Rerve Download the catalogue you need and grab the part number https://www.porsche.com/australia/accessoriesandservice/classic/genuineparts/originalpartscatalogue/

POST 4Original post

Quick google = looks like no Perhaps from a wrecker in the states where the bag has already gone off? Maybe Dan at dparts.com.au? If you are forced to get the whole unit, then 'reckon you'll be forced to get local being explosives and all that - ie not sure how you would go with customs.....

POST 5 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Yeh having to get local is a challenge.

POST 6Original post

How did you go with this little experiment? I am looking to do something similar. 2005 911/997  triangle wheel to round wheel, hopefully one with differing coloured centre marker. Are there any model wheels you found that were an easy swap over ?

POST 7 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I gave up in the end. Impossible to find a used one with airbag locally and the cost of getting that part from Porsche is insane.

POST 8Original post

Rerve - for a laugh, what do Porsche want? Harsh - you could try the below. Not official but looks official to my eyes (and probably anybody else). Plug and play and fully customisable to any way you want it. https://www.rennmeisterllc.com/product-category/997-987/

POST 9 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

$3160 just for the airbag unit.
