I tried searching but couldn't easily find a solution. I'm trying to install B8 Bilstein dampers ( Eibach spring) in my 987.2 base. The struts won't slide into the hub/carrier. The old ones came out very easily. I've tried prying the aluminum open a bit but they still won't move. I transferred over the stopper ring to the new piece and it was a struggle to get it both off and back on. Either the paint is really thick or the hub/carrier isn't the exact dimensions. Any tips on how to get the strut to slide in?

Coverage and how to read this overview
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

If they are like the 981 , make sure you are not mixing up the front and rear. The diameter is around 1/4" different.
Working on the front, the struts have a welded bracket/tab on the side that matches. I guess I need to pry open the aluminum hub more most likely with this: Amazon.com: ITEQ Suspension Strut Spreader Socket, Shock Absorber Ram Dismantle Tool for Volkswagen Audi VW Golf Jetta: Automotive
