Coverage and how to read this overview
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.
3 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

Obviously you don't think it is "reliable" information. In my opinion it is reliable, not "reliable". There are now more 5W-40 oils on the full approvals list than 0W-40's, so you have plenty to choose from. See the FAQ page. I used Fuchs Titan Supersyn 5W-40 (a Porsche approved oil) in my 1998 C2 with high-ish mileage. I found that it all but eliminated the occasional start-up tappet clatter and occasional start-up puff of smoke. I still use it in my Turbo.
thanks richard, conflicting advice led to inverted commas - i shall now refrain and take your advice! regards etc
