Hi everybody, last week I decided that the 997 needs an older brother. So, I bought a 996 C2 Manual with the cool cable throttle, I would also like to mention that it is a beautiful spec, incl. M030, sport suspension and seats, LSD, 996 turbo wheels etc. So, I am excited to say the least. BUT. I noticed a throttle hesitation issue. When I say accelerate by pressing the pedal up to 80% all is fine. But quite frequently when I give it the full beans it stutters and hesitates. At 4,000 RPM and above. As an example, when I accelerate on 2nd gear up to 7,000 RPM at 50% percent and then shift to third and press the accelerator to 100% it jolts and stutters and I feel as if not only I pressed the throttle at 80% but rather 40%. It seems like a fuel delivery issue. Would anybody know how to solve this or where it is coming from? Many thanks, Bob

Hi all, I've seen some interesting articles of people doing modifications and there seems to be some technical merit to knowing if your car is e-gas or not. I have a 2001 996 C2 that was purchased in the US and I'd like to know first off, which is it, and how can I tell? Along with, what is the difference? Cheers Aaron
any codes coming out? maybe also check and see if the fuel pressure is where it needs to be. could be a sign that the pump is about to fail. there is quite a bit of stuff it could be thats making it sputter a bit on full power
I'm pretty sure it is e-gas. I believe the '99C2s were the last 996s that had a cable throttle. The '99 C4s were e-gas models, at least the Canadian models were (I have one). You can tell by looking at the throttle body. If there is no throttle cable hooked up, then it is e-gas. ...Rickker
all 996 are egas... except the 99 c2.
That answered it, thanks! Cheers Aaron
Is there an advantage to having one over the other? I have a 99 C2.
i also have a 99 c2 but cab... however, i know it's not e-gas
cable has better response, excellent for track. egas is used for PSM, and power management (engine cutoff, more consistent pedal feel under load etc..) as well as slower throttle response time.
Ahhhh. Makes sense. Glad i got the cable then!
No left food braking in a e-gas car as well as it cuts throttle when you apply brakes. Just one of the reasons I choose a 99.
