Hi there and good day to all. I have to say that Rennlist discussion forum is one of thee best sites for 996 enthusiasts as with other Porsches as well. I like to add this to the post with reference to variety of exhaust systems for the 996. I welcome ne people/companies to offer their insite to what is the best sounding exhaust out there and ease of installation that way people in or around this site can make an informed decision of whats best for their 996's. What would be nice is if neone can provide sound bytes/links to the various exhaust systems. People would love to know what is out there and what's best for their cars. I've heard the fabspeeds and think they sound spectacular, really mean rompy exhaust note. The Tech-EFX sounds real nice too and it's a super-understated exhaust system (actually modified Porsche cannisters so it's stealth too).

My vote goes to the Porsche factory sport exhaust. Fits perfectly (of course) and sounds great. I chose not to install the loudness control so my is open all the time.
This is how I grew up hearing Porsches sound!

Throaty or raspy. What are you looking for?
The Fabspeeds have a deep throaty sound.
The Porsche system has more of a raspy sound. I find that it has a low RPM buzzing/droning sound when combined with a Tip.
I went with the Fabspeeds. They weigh less, cost less, and are just as easy (if not easier) to install. Sound preference is personal and you could not go wrong with either system.
