I like to modify cars so Im not a purist. The more I think about it. Ill like to see what this could look like. So the starting canvas is my 3/98 coupe. Engine wise, Ill get a 3.6 build with headwork that be close to 340 hp out of the box, Ill be adding my ported throttle body, apr tune, souls headers, fab speed x pipes no cats and fab speed exhaust. 3.8 Carrera S airbox, lightened and balance flywheel, performance clutch. This is where I would like input. The car is silver but I would like to go Ford velocity blue with it like my truck. Where it now has red porsche stripes name I want that to be black. I want to powder coat the 408s black. I want the brake calipers to be yellow. I also want yellow seatbelts. Finally like in the gt3 RS I want two stripes from front to back, stripes are black with yellow borders. Please let me know what you guys think. Thanks. Yes ducktail will stay. I love the black accents on the velocity blue, just graphene coated it yesterday.

Going to look sharp with that blue! Everything you listed sounds great. It's your car and will be your bad-*** ride
The 996 currently, is low on old bearded purists ideology, and is not held to this mod is ok that mod not OK, or it's too precious don't mod. It's your car, I aways say do as you like to please yourself. I think the blue works. I'm not so keen on painted Porsche Wheels. But red has been thrown on already. A radical color might go better with custom forged rims. Ducktails tend to be matched with Fuchs look wheels, Fuchs tend to bring Porsche back to the era when color at all/wild colors were normal. or OZ Allergerita. With such a modern color, I would suggest custom forged wheels.
I think the idea sounds good, the blue is great but I'd have to see the black on it. I'm team Ducktail.
3/98:the color change is a great choice good with the work it will be especially yours when it’s done
Yes to the ducktail. I love the red highlights, though. I bet they'd look amazing against that blue.
Well you know I'm not a purist, so I say "go for it." But I would avoid the lightened flywheel. Also I'd stick with the stock clutch, it would be fine for the power level you're targeting, and would be easier to deal with on the street. I like the shade of blue! Also, I like your red wheels. They make your car stand out, where painted black will make it blend in more in the GTG crowd.
$$$ / Time / Love Is all it takes! I love the idea, most never see it through. I hope it's different for you, would love to see it complete.
love that shade of blue. not much else to add, but yeah, post photos if you actually do it!
Kill the noise insulating and lightweight glass as there have been numerous complaints about chipping/cracking. If you are into listening to music when you drive add the Burmester.

Don't think his build is happening since this thread is from 2022 and @3/98 911 coupe doesn't seem to be active on RL any more. Modern Porsche color "Sapphire Blue" isn't a bad way to go. It's quite similar to the truck color, but is a Porsche OEM color (though I don't think it was available during the 996 era). The Sapphire Blue color "pops" in person when it is properly polished.
