Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

6 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

0 evidence records excluded for query context · 0 excluded by outcome qualification · 0 adjusted by outcome qualification.

0 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I think I know the answer to this, but just wanted to get a 2nd (and 3rd/4th etc) opinion. Is there any real need to carry out a bore-scope inspection on a Gen 2 997? I know that the Gen 1 cars have the potential for bore score, but I haven't heard anything about Gen 2 cars suffering. The car in question is a 3.6 Carrera. Cheers

POST 2Original post

There have only been a very small number with the bore problems, but it would not hurt to get it looked at,for piece of mind. Chris

POST 4 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Thanks for the replies - general consensus from speaking to other places too is that it isn't really an issue to worry about. Have taken the plunge... <gulp>

POST 6Original post

I'm not one to underplay the bore scoring issue but jeesh.

This is a source reference. Confirm exact model applicability in the original material.
