or so it seems and sounds like. The past couple of days, on start-up, the auto climate control makes an extremely loud whirring noise, like a playing card in a fan. Back the fan way off and the noise subsides, but I don't think it goes away - just drowned out by engine and road noise. Car is an 07CS CPO'ed to 8/2013, but I'd like an idea of what might be wrong before I take it to the dealer. Any ideas? Thanks ChuckR

Coverage and how to read this overview
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.
2 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

Whenever the fan in my others cars did that, the fan bearings were going. Sometime latter the fan worked intermitently, and then the motor failed. I have not bother to look where the fan is. Changing the fan can be an easy job, if the fan is accessible. The fan in a BMW 740 was behind the center console and a bear to change.
