Have a 1 week old Caymen 210 mi. While stopped transmission error light comes on: no reverse, 1, 2 or 3rd gear. Restart the car twice all seems fine except for the engine error light. I am able to drive the car to the dealer-no discernable problems. Dealer downloads the error codes, says he's not sure what's wrong and will need to contact Porsche. He thinks it just needs a reboot, I think ?transmission control unit? other hardware problem. Please help am disappointed and depressed. Caymen base pdk transmission

Coverage and how to read this overview
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

i`m sure the dealer will make it right....my auto box has been great for 6 thousand miles so far
A rare problem I am sure. Very strange!
What on Planet-9 is happening?!! All of a sudden continuous complaints about gear and engine problems of the base 987.2 => ccmoore53, you have nothing to worry about as your car is covered under warranty. But it seems the base 987.2 is trouble!
My '09 PDK Cayman just turned over 19000. The transmission has been superb, yet has done some funky things a few times. 2nd to 1st gear shifting under a couple of uphill situations where I've slowed to almost a stop, then accelerated gave me the feeling like it was being clutched if it were a straight shift. Once on a very cold morning when it was left outside (visiting friends) it had no forward gears and the error light came on. I switched off the car and restarted it, and all was well. Never has done it since. Your dealer should take care of you. Mine does. I let my service adviser know when I had these problems so he would have a record. Cheers PS-and mine is far from being 'trouble'. So far the best car I've owned, other than my '79 911SC. PPS-and what is this 'Base' ****? Porsche makes a Cayman and a Cayman S, and they should be referred to in that fashion.
