Here's an interesting dilemma that I am going to have once I get my Cayman: I live about one mile away from work. The freeway system which transects my "commute" is often very busy. I understand that it is bad to for a high-performance car to not get the oil-temp up to > 212F so that any water is burned off Do I: 1) Never drive the Cayman to work 2) Drive 5 miles on the freeway in stop-and-go traffic each way and waste gas? 3) Drive the 1 mile to work but drive a longer distance at lunch? 4) Don't worry so much?

Coverage and how to read this overview
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

First of all, driving the Cayman for only 1 mile would qualify you for being masochistic. Why tease yourself every day. Just find a longer route to work, avoid the congested freeway, enjoy the car, and arrive at work happy having had your proper driving fix. Good for the car, and good for you. /fckeditor/editor/images/smiley/MWPX/drive.gif
Can you wait for the weekend and take a nice 50-100 mile break-in trip somewhere. Your engine would thank you.
My drive is 10 minutes to work and I love every minute of it! 10 of the best minutes of the entire day at least until I get to go home and repeat it. However I do go the long way home and enjoy a little longer ride after work. I took my truck to work 2 days last week and it killed me knowing my cayman wasn't waiting for me in the parking garage. hsjb, Get a different job, move farther away from work, quit work, go on vacation, start to work two hours early and take a scenic route. Make the spouse work two jobs. ... whatever, just drive, drive, drive ... Porsche recommends 15 milkes a day / 6,000 miles a year. Once you start driving the car, you won't want to quit ... at least, I don't. LL
Without my current job...or the company I work for or it's meteoric stock price rise, I wouldn't be owning a Cayman in 2.5 months. I think I will have to make the Cayman a weekend only car.
Nice dilemma. I would walk to work and drive the car on the weekends. As it is, my car sees duty pretty much on weekends.
I actually do walk or cycle to work three of four days a week. I imagine the first week I have the Cayman, I will drive it to work so that I can take all my friends at work for a drive.
