Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1Original post

After a couple of years away from a Cayman, I recently purchased a 2006 Cayman S as a daily driver. I will admit when I originally had my first Cayman S, Bluetooth capability was not important to me. However, my now former BMW made me realize just how great Bluetooth is in a vehicle. I want to upgrade my CDR-24 w/Bose with a new head unit that has Bluetooth, iPod integration and GPS. My concern is the sound quality and functionality of the aftermarket head units and Bluetooth in the noisy cabin of the Cayman. Are some head units better than others? What about mic locations? I am really looking for general comments from those who have these setups and just how well or not these work. I will say that currently I am leaning towards a Kenwood unit (b/c of the Garmin GPS). Thanks for your thoughts. Brian

I put the Alpine in mine, and the bluetooth is really good. It was important to me, and the installer I used recommended the Alpine over the Pioneer in terms of the bluetooth quality, so I went with that. I have my iPhone 5 synched, and the speech recognition/SIRI is very good and call quality is excellent. I have the microphone mounted at the top of the windshield on the left-hand corner.

POST 3Original post

My Pioneer set up is stellar in every way.. except the bluetooth. The quality is abysmal to say the least. From what I understand Kenwood head units take forever to boot and get working, I would go with an Alpine.

Thanks for the feedback. I know the boot time for the Kenwood is slow. How about bluetooth call quality? Anyone with a Kenwood want to chime in?
