Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

18 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

0 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Original engine, IMS, AOS and most bolt-on parts to the engine. On it's second clutch/flywheel, second RMS (done with clutch), second water pump, second starter and second battery. Other than that, pretty much just regular scheduled maintenance.

Nice! The 996 C4S is (to me) one of the best looking of all 911s (and this is coming from an air-cooled guy!)

Greetings from another NW region Arctic Silver 996 4S. Always nice to hear some of the good side of owning a 996, especially the C4S. I struggled with buying this car (my second 911 in 30 years) because of some of the negative stories and trying to determine in my own mind what the real percentage rate of catastrophic failures was. In the end the C4S is just too good looking not to own and enjoy. Cheers!

Agreed! To be honest, I'm not actually a huge fan of the 996 styling unless it's a Turbo/C4S. The wide hips and updated headlights really make the car IMO.

That's what I want to hear - proper good news 996 stories. Way too many Eeyore type threads in this section of Rennlist. 996's are great cars and fantastic value - in fact the best values by miles in the Porsche universe!!
