Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Greetings all, The center LCD in my instrument cluster has spidering in the glass. I reached out to German Auto Tech and they sold me a replacement but apparently theyre not aware that the center panel was changed in the 996.2 because they list this part as fitting all 996 models. Anyone know where else I can source the panel? No part number on it.

Thanks, but like I mentioned this is the part they already sold me. It doesnt fit the 996.2 despite what their website says. The above pic shows the part and the original one side by side.

POST 5 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Yeah I did. Waiting to hear back. I'm not optimistic they sell it. In fact, I'm not optimistic it's even available. I haven't had any luck finding anything or anyone who's had to replace it. What's interesting is that it's really easy to replace it! Unlike the 996.1 version, which required soldering. This one has a ribbon cable and a simple release to swap it out. Maybe I'll get lucky and find one in a junk yard still installed in a busted cluster.

I need a center one for my 2001, was told to look on ebay.

OK, I just discovered your YouTube channel and the first video I watched was the Ebay auction. I was in tears I was laughing so hard. And now I got sucked in to rootin for you to pull this whole insane project off. 🤪 I just looked on ebay and it's very easy to find a ton of "Porsche 996 LCD" results. But they all seem to make the same claim of 1998-2005??? By the way, I don't live in Jersey Village, but we (me & wife) did 30 years ago. Your street wasn't poured yet. Good luck!

Yeah theyre not the same unfortunately. The original 996 had a smaller center screen and was soldered to the board. I used to live in Harvest Bend back in the 90s. Youre right, when I moved to cypress that area was factory new! Be sure to see my Audi video. The opening skit was a blast to make.

POST 10Original post

Back in 2/2022 I had Best Pixel Repair change out the middle large display on my 2003 911 Coupe. The part number on the invoice was 9962CLPRSER. Their website is Bestpixelrepair.com and their phone number is [phone removed]. You will need to call them since they do not show our middle display on their site anymore.
