99/ C2 I have had this happen before and I don't understand why it happens. I was washing the car, I was washing under the door handle, you know how the window drops about 3CM when you open the door, as I was washing the handle the window was going up and down, it was very confused. but then the window dropped about 30CM and stayed open. Key was not in the ignition, anyone know why it did this? Thanks Kyle

Coverage and how to read this overview
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

That is weird. Maybe water got into the micro switch. Enough of it might make window operate longer than the prescribed amount of time?
Have you tried putting the key in the door lock turning and holding to the left for a few seconds (this will make both windows go down). Mine did something similar and I found this seemed to reset it somehow.
Sounds like water in the microswitch to me. FWIW, my window drops about 3MM, not 3CM when I pull the door handle.
Is the micor switch the same thing as the sensor? My friend with a newer Cayman had the same issue. The he couldn't lock his car becuase the window would not go up the whole way. Zfor him it was a sensor. Hope that helps.
