Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

25 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Those crazy Germans and their engineering. Just a worthless post and dumb observation but anyone ever notice the 2/4 on their gas gauge? I just find it funny and haven't really noticed it til recently. I can't recall off the top of my head whether other car manufacturers have this or not. I think ROM(rest of the manufacturers) is 1/2. lol

POST 2Original post

Because it is too distracting to do math while driving 200kph on the autobahn?

POST 3Original post

haha, i guess i never really noticed... still wonderin about the whole MANUEL thing on my fan speed

POST 4Original post

I think it makes perfect sense. It stays consistent by telling you the number of sections on that gauge and where you are on but then again I am not that smart so... Why wouldn't you also say that having 4/4 on full tank is silly? It should be "1" at full tank then "1/2" at half tank.

I have thought about that logic as well. I forgot to mention 4/4 since I rarely have the tank full and look that high. It's usually at less than a 1/4 most of the time since I'm always looking to race. lol

POST 6Original post

Running at less than 1/4 is bad for your fuel pump!

POST 9Original post

My 944 had 2/4 also, but had an R for refuel rather than an E for empty.

POST 10Original post

Fuel pump is in the gas tank and cooled by the gas, low on gas the fuel pump runs hotter, wears out faster.

POST 11 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I'm aware of the general concept however I think that effect varies by different cars. I've been driving on quarter tank for the past 20 years with no pump failure so far with some cars seeing 150k. I'll take my chances.

POST 12Original post

Because it is easy to think in quarters (viertel in German).

I've been thinking the same thing! Why the hell is every other part in english and the air is somehow "Manuell"??

POST 14Original post

All US cars carry option code M130 "Control and indications in English lettering", not spelling.........

POST 16Original post

You should keep your tank near full to deter condensation. N00b would keep it 1/4 or less.

POST 17Original post

My wife's Volvo has a fuel gauge that reads "12" at full and "0" at empty. At first glance, this seems to make sense until one realizes that the car has a 17 gallon fuel tank...

POST 18Original post

Quotes source post: 9069070

WTF? My fuel gage says "0" at empty, not "0/4". How am I supposed to think in quarters with indicators like this?

POST 20Original post

Quotes source post: 9076961

LOL same with my Yamaha receiver goes to 51!

POST 21Original post

Manuell...is Porsche's HVAC engineer who designs the instrumentation displays. I don't have a aproblem with that. relinuca

POST 22Original post

Hey, the Mayan calendar ends Dec. 21, 2012. What's with that?

POST 23Original post

Quotes source post: 9085754

Really?! Then who is Auto? -Eric

POST 24Original post

Quotes source post: 9085856

If the Mayans were supposed to have the inside track on the when the end of the world will occur, then why didn't they predict their own demise? What's the point of making your calendar go out to 2012 if you're going to be dead long before that????

I bet Auto and Manuell have the answer.
