Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Hello folks..., I was looking this morning under my Porsche and see on the driver side just behind the AOS a small oil spot on the ground. For the second time when i poor some oil in the engine a day or two after i can see an oil spot on the ground. I was wondering if the cause of the leak could be a broken oil filer tube. If the oil filler tube is broken near the engine us the oil could drop near the AOS and then on the ground. Thanks

POST 2Original post

The oil filler tube attaches to the engine very close to the drive belts and altenator (front) of the engine and the AOS is at the rear left of the engine. Is the oil spot you see towards the rear left of your engine?

POST 3 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

You are right Charles... The oil spot is just toward the left side of the engine. I can see oil dropping on the cam cover. At first i thought that the cam cover seal was leaking but i do not think so. A further look let me think that the oil is dropping from near the AOS but not from the bellows of the AOS....closer from the engine...not easy to explain... I tried to trace the leak but i really can not see from where it is cumming from....is there any oil hoses close to the AOS that could leak... Thanks

POST 4Original post

How about posting some pics? The top part of the AOS has two plastic tubes that carry oil mist, they have o-rings. One goes to the intake plenum behind the T/B, the other to bank 4-6 head. The middle of the AOS has a rubber bellows with two hose clamps. It can leak. The bottom of the AOS has a small hard plastic tube going into the block, it's seals are pretty inadequate, and can also leak. If the oil leak on the filler neck is bad enough, oil can pool at the top of the engine. Are you sure it's not a cam cover/bolt or spark tube leak?
