If someone asked you to help out with a homecoming parade and drive one of the candidates in the parade while the candidate is sitting up on the back, would you say no for fear of damaging the folded top mechanism?

Coverage and how to read this overview
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Personally, I wouldn't want anyone sitting on the clamshell, with their feet on the back seat. If that offer was made to me, I would politely decline.
Unless you can find couch cushions or something else that would raise the rear seat height I would politely decline. Sitting on the decklid or mechanism is a clear no go. Back in the Dark Ages, 1983, I actually carried the Homecoming Queen in my Tr6..... I was also infatuated with her, she wouldn't have bothered to spit in my face if my nose was on fire

If you really want to do this... Consider pulling out rear seats as they are just Velcro'd in and pull right out. Then put something like a milk crate/whatever on rear seat tub with some type of cushion/pillow on top for a nice high seat...
The tonneau cover, or clamshell is as thin as rice paper. Do not even have someone lean back and rest their hand on it.
Thanks for the replies and confirming that my fears about this were valid.

If it makes you feel any better, I heard she now weighs 300 lbs, drives a Chrysler K car and runs a meth lab out of her basement with her adult son who still lives with at home. You dodged a bullet.
